―Yuko's catchphrase

Yuko Shinrin (森林しんりん友好ゆこ) is the main character of Wishing! Pretty Cure Star and the leader of their team as Cure Connection (キュアコネクション), the Cure of Friendship. She isn't entirely aware what her magical power is as it appears particularly weak, but she doesn't care all that much. She's a dedicated and hard working individual who cares deeply about the people around her.

History[]

Yuko comes from a rather normal family. She is a lone child, and thus is very doted on by her parents and close relatives - which more often than not embarrasses her. She's always made aquaintances easily, but it wasn't until she encountered Honoyo in kindergarten when she really started making friends.

Becoming Cure Connection[]

Yuko was on the way home from the Hall of Legends with Honoyo one day after school when they encountered a passed out Kirii in an alleyway and they decided to help. Kirii was uncertain whether she could trust them or not, but they were able to convince her to let Yuko carry her. A short walk later, they were found by Eilam who had been pursuing Kirii and the pouch in her possession, and after realizing he was hostile (after he also summoned a Yaquela), they managed to temporarily get away with the help of Honoyo temporarily blinding him and Yuko surprisingly being able to carry Kirii while running.

They were eventually found again, however, and after a short standoff, Eilam sought revenge on Honoyo for the whole blinding thing. Yuko jumped in to save her best friend and in that moment awakened as Cure Connection.

Appearance[]

Yuko[]

At the start of the series, Yuko had completely brown eyes, but this changed after she became a Pretty Cure with a red tint. She has straight bangs, and two longer pieces of hair that fall infront of her ears and curl upwards. The rest of her shoulder-blade length hair is straight and a dark wine red colour.

Cure Connection[]

As a cure, her hair is separated into sections. Part of it hangs loose in the same length as her normal hair, but part of it is tied with a big red bow with a darker red stripe into a bun with pigtails to the side style, where the pigtails reach to her lower back. Her PreMirror is fastened on the ribbon alongside a set of white wings. Her hair is a wine red colour, and her eyes become a more vibrant cool pink hue.

Cure Connection wears the same uniform as the other Cures but in her signature red colours, and she has light puff sleeves accentuated by dark red cuffs and a choker in the same red. On her chest is a bow with the same colouration as the one in her hair, and a golden heart is placed in its middle. The uniform consists of a top and a skirt, with the main colour of the top being slightly darker than the skirt. The front of the top has a golden trimmed panel with a golden emblem resembling a heart at the bottom and some golden beads at the top. The skirt consists of two main layers. The top layer is mainly monotone, but has a darker red trim around it, and is open in the front, revealing the lower layer of the skirt which consists of five layers of white ruffles. There is also a big dark red bow fastened at her small back with a stripe the same colour as the main part of her top. She also wears ruffled white and red cuffs.

Personality[]

Yuko is a first and foremost a very social girl, but tends to stick to the people she already knows. She has a couple of close friends, and while she's extremely accepting of other people joining that circle (which she won't let them leave afterwards) she's very rarely the one to take the initiative to bring someone new into the group. If she finds her way into someone's life, she's there to stay, and that's something she's very clear about from the start.

Cure Connection[]

"It's what keeps us all together! Cure Connection!"
みんなをつなぐこと! キュアコネクション!
Minna wo tsunagu koto! Kyua Konekushon!

Cure Connection (キュアコネクション) is Yuko's alter ego, and she is considered the leader of the Wishing! Pretty Cure Star Cures. She represents the core part of the Constellation Canvas, Friendship. She is also the first out of the girls to awaken as a Cure. Her theme colour is Coral, even if she is categorized as a 'Pink' Cure.

Transformation[]

"Pretty Cure! Constellation Link Up!" - Pretty Cure! Constellation Link Up! is the official transformation speech in Wishing! Pretty Cure Star used by Yuko to transform into Cure Connection for both her first and her complete form.

Yuko tosses her PreMirror in its dormant state into the air and calls "Pretty Cure!". It glows in a bright coral colour before revealing it's active form. Yuko catches it, and finishes the activation phrase, "Constellation Link Up!". She holds the item out infront of her and it releases a bright glow that forms into a sheet that covers her body and then forms into a sleeveless bodysuit of light. She spins around once, and small globules of light form around her, and as if the gravity gets altered around her, she goes flying upwards with the small globules following and merging into streams as they do. She grins as she tumbles around mid-air, and swipe her arms trough the streams of light which then start to follow her arms, eventually forming one thick band of light around her. It constricts quickly around her chest and down to her waist, forming the top of her uniform. The same happens with her skirt, and the the bodysuit of light vanishes.

She starts to slow down, as if she's reached the peak of her trajectory. She places a kiss to the central gem on the PreMirror, and light versions of all her accessories and shoes form in succession from the PreMirror. She opens her eyes, grins, and her hair changes colour from her roots and grows longer. With the PreMirror in one hand, she grabs her now long hair with her other and pulls it up into a ponytail, and it magically pops into her Cure hairstyle. She puts the PreMirror into it's position, and the large bow appears behind it. Then the PreMirror grows its pair of wings, and Cure Connection starts to plummet back down, but lands gracefully, strikes a pose and introduces herself with "It's what keeps us all together! Cure Connection!".

Attacks[]

  • Connection Blast (コネクションブラスト) - Cure Connection's main offensive move.
    • Cure Connection raises her right arm, and extending her index finger, pointing at the star-filled sky. She calls "Connection...", and a star falls down, hitting her hand, enveloping her hand in Coral light. she twirls once, and extends her arm out towards the target, calling "...Blast!", and the light is set flying towards the target, which it strikes with extreme force.
    • She can rapid-fire this spell, only that after she has spun, she places her left hand behind her right. The coral light envelopes her left hand as well, and several smaller spheres of light is sent towards the target much like an machine gun.
  • Feather's Grace (フェザーズグレース) - Cure Connection's main defensive move.
    • It does not have a sequence, but when using it, she calls "Feather's Grace!" and spreads her arms, causing a bright coral light emit from her chest, which illuminates the area, and it appears to alter the density inside the radius at random, effectively deflecting incoming attacks.
  • Starlight Connection (スターライトコネクション) - Cure Connection's main finisher/purifier.
    • Cure Connection calls "Pretty Cure!", and raises her right hand, index finger pointing at the sky with a faint streak of light following its movement. She draws an infinity symbol in the air, and it separates into two loops. With a flick of her wrist, the two loops soar at the enemy, stopping above and below it respectively. Cure Connection calls "Starlight..." and the loops expand to a diameter wider than the width of the enemy, and small, coral sparks appear between the loops as the enemy starts floating. She then brings both her arms down, palms facing the now floating monster, yelling "...Connection!" and a beam of the same colouration as the loops surge out of her hands, piercing the enemy, explodes and purifies it.

  • Connection Blast Deluxe (コネクションブラストデラックス) - Cure Connection's main offensive move. It is the powered up version of Connection Blast.
    • Cure Connection raises her arms, palms extended, pointing at the star-filled sky. She calls "Connection...", and two star falls down, hitting her hands, enveloping her hand in Coral light. She twirls once, and extends her arms out towards the target, calling "...Blast...", and the light is set flying towards the target in the shape of two streams. Cure Connection grins, and calls "Deluxe!". The two streams of light join together, creating one bigger and faster, which it strikes with extreme force.
  • Feather's Grace (フェザーズグレース) - Cure Connection's main defensive move.
    • It is stronger than when Cure Connection uses it in her First form, but this version doesn't have a different incantation.
    • It does not have a sequence, but when using it, she calls "Feather's Grace!" and spreads her arms, causing a bright coral light emit from her chest, which illuminates the area, and it appears to alter the density inside the radius at random, effectively deflecting incoming attacks.
  • Starlight Connection Strike (スターライトコネクションストライク) - Cure Connection's main finisher/purifier. It is the powered up version of Starlight Connection.

    Relationships[]

    • Kirigawa Honoyo - Honoyo is Yuko's best friend. They are neighbours and childhood friends. They know eachother better than they know themselves and are entirely inseperable, and as a result, they also like to tease eachother on occasion. Yuko is not part of the student council at Amanosaki Academy, but is rather frequently encountered around the area due to helping out with paper work and the like.
    • Shimaki Kokoro - WIP
    • Shimaki Rei - WIP
    • Sazaki Ayako - As Ayako is the youngest of the Cures, Yuko view her as a younger sister. Yuko, alongside Honoyo, tend to be the ones to baby Ayako the most.
    • Saitou Ikiko - WIP
    • Amaya Hime - WIP
    • Maki Youko - WIP
    • Hiramoto Hoshi - Yuko is a big fan of Cure Gloss, and Hoshi is well aware of this fact, which sometimes - at the very least before Cure Gloss finally joined the team - made her a bit stand-offish and distant towards her.
    • Kirii - WIP

  • Shinrin Miwa - WIP
  • Shinrin Kaito - WIP
