Etymology

Kannari (神成, Kannari^?) Kan'nari comes from Kan (神, Kan^?) meaning "god" or "deity", combined with Nari (成, Nari^?) meaning "to become" or "doing something". So Kan'nari could be translated to "becoming god". However, かんなり (kan'nari, かんなり^?) can also read as a version of 雷 (kaminari, 雷^?) which means "thunder". Based on that, his human name is a literal translation of his actual family name.

Naoto (直人, Naoto^?) - Naoto comes from Nao (直, Nao^?) meaning "honest" and To (人, hito^?) meaning "man". So "Atara Naoto" means "new honest man", probably a reference to how Void trys to change himself.
